Sophe Pope
Director of Children's Ministry
Sophe and her husband Dusty are the
proud parents of 4 little girls, Ellie Ann, Mamie Cole, Hazel Lane, and
Gladie Pearl. She was born and raised here in McDonough and is an
(almost) lifelong Presbyterian. With an undergraduate degree in Spanish
and ESOL from the University of Georgia (Go Dawgs!) and a Masters in
Teaching from Georgia State and College University, Sophe began her
career in teaching at Mary Persons High School in Forsyth. After 4 years
and when she and Dusty found out they were expecting their first baby,
she returned home to teach at her alma mater, Union Grove High School.
After the birth of baby girl #2 in 2015, Sophe left the classroom to
stay home and raise her babies. That Fall, she started as the Director
of Children’s Ministries here at MPC. With a passion for working with
children of all ages and a love for teaching, this is truly a dream job
for Sophe!
Along with her roles as a mama to 4, ages 7 and under, and getting to
play with the kids here at church, Sophe also serves on the Henry
County Board of Education. Additionally, she sits on the Board of
Trustees for Shingleroof Campground as well as the Board of Directors
for Haven House.
