Jane Robinson
        Church Musician
Growing up in California, Jane knew at
an early age she wanted to be a concert pianist.  However, apparently,
God had other plans for her.  Once she played for Wednesday night Bible
study at the age of eight, she knew she wanted to be a church musician.
Jane's home church acquired a Hammond organ when she was 10 and by age
14, she'd become hooked on the organ so much so that she became the
church organist. During high school and college she was the pianist for
Youth For Christ.  You would think she would want to teach music in
school, but no, she wanted to be in the classroom.  Jane began to teach
seventh and eighth grade Language Arts in Edison, California, just
outside Bakersfield.  The school was located in the middle of orange
groves and a grape vineyard.
After marrying Aubrey Robinson and moving to Georgia, Jane taught
school in Stockbridge and remained a teacher until retiring in 2007,
ending her career in Locust Grove Elementary.
In 1976, Aubrey and Jane moved their membership to McDonough
Presbyterian Church and immediately were drawn into the music program.
In 1981, she became the church organist and still serves in that role
today.  During her tenure as church organist, she has overseen
the installation of two organs. In 1982, the church  upgraded the old
Hammond organ with one of the first electronic organs manufactured by
Rodgers. The second organ, installed in 2010, is a Rodgers Trillium
Masterpiece and has the same voicing as Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris,
France.  This organ was a gift to McDonough Presbyterian Church in honor
and memory of church members Bill & Mary Moye and Bob & Jane
Foster.
