I am a lifelong Presbyterian and have been an ordained “Minister of Word and Sacrament” for 13-years,. My wife, Julie, is also an ordained Presbyterian minister. We met at a Presbyterian campus ministry retreat, when we were both undergrad students at the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) in Oxford.

I received my Master of Divinity from Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, GA. This past spring, I received my Doctor of Ministry in Preaching from the Sewanee School of Theology in Sewanee, TN. My doctoral thesis was on the use of storytelling in preaching, and I am captivated by the ways storytelling weaves throughout our entire lives as our brains’ go-to device for making meaning of the world and our place in it.

The Bailey family includes Julie, my wife, Miriam, Elizabeth, our dog Sandy, our rabbit Thunder, and Magenta (Elizabeth’s betta fish).

I love ministry! I love mining the ancient scriptures for a fresh and vital word for our lives in the present. I am humbled by the pastoral privilege of being present with people through life’s transitions and the joy or grief those moments bring. I enjoy working with people like you to follow the Holy Spirit in bringing lifegiving ministry to the congregation and the community. I am excited to get started and look forward to beginning this holy journey with McDonough Presbyterian Church.
